Accessibility statement
How Lagatiyal is built to be usable by everyone, and how to tell us when it isn't.
Draft. This page has not yet been reviewed by a qualified professional and may change before the site opens.
We want everyone to be able to use Lagatiyal, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnifiers or older phones. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What we do
- Every page works in Assamese and English, and each page declares its language so screen readers pronounce it correctly.
- You can reach everything with a keyboard. A "skip to main content" link appears when you press Tab, and the focused item is always outlined.
- Text and background colours are chosen for strong contrast.
- Pages fit small screens without scrolling sideways.
- Forms label every field and explain each error in words, next to the field.
- Animation is kept to a minimum and respects your device's "reduce motion" setting.
Known limitations
- Assamese text on this site has not yet been reviewed by a native-speaker editor.
- The site has not yet had an independent accessibility audit. [To be confirmed: date of the first audit.]
