Delete your account

How to delete your Lagatiyal account, what is deleted, and what is kept and for how long.

This page is for anyone with an account on Lagatiyal (lagatiyal.com), run by Pranjit Gogoi, Narayanapur, Assam. The Lagatiyal Exams and Lagatiyal SHG apps use the same account, so deleting it here deletes it for the apps too.

Delete it yourself

  1. Sign in to Lagatiyal, on the website or in the app.
  2. Open My account.
  3. Choose Delete my account at the bottom of the page.
  4. Read what will be deleted, enter your password and confirm.

The account is deleted straight away and you are signed out. Go to Delete my account

Ask us to delete it

If you can't sign in, ask us instead:

Write from your account's email address, or tell us that address, so we can check the request is yours. We delete the account within 30 days and tell you when it's done.

What is deleted

  • Your name, email address and password, and your sign-in on every device
  • Everything you wrote for the wall magazine, including published pieces, your writer profile and your likes
  • Your exam answers and results, and the mock tests you made
  • Your support requests and the files you attached to them
  • Your saved delivery addresses and your cart
  • Your login to any SHG or NGO group, and group applications that were not approved

What is kept, and for how long

  • Store orders: six years, because Indian tax law (GST) requires it. We keep the order number, date, items, amounts, payment reference, the name on the order, and the town, district, state and PIN code. Your phone number and street address are removed, and the orders are no longer linked to you.
  • SHG and NGO group books (members, savings, loans, meetings, documents): for as long as the group keeps them on the site. They belong to the group, not to one login, so they stay with the group and its accounts stay correct. Only your login is removed.
  • Our record of changes made on the site, kept to protect the site and its accounts. It no longer shows your name or links to your account.

Before you can delete your account

A few things must be sorted out first. The delete page tells you if any of them apply:

  • Staff accounts (for example editors or teachers): ask the site administrator to remove the staff role.
  • The only Group admin of an SHG or NGO: make another member Group admin first (open the group, then Logins & access, then Hand over group admin), so the group isn't left without anyone to manage it. Or contact us.
  • Orders still on their way: wait until the order is delivered or cancelled, or any refund is complete.
